We did the Groupon thing. It's obvious the Groupon deal has caused some issues for the inn, and that's a shame, because this is a charming place to stay. We originally were going to stay in November, but my work got in the way and were were able to change our reservations, albeit with some difficulty, without charge. A big thank you to Joe for that. You need to know what you're buying into when you buy a room at a B and B in a 100+ year old house. It's not going to be a luxury accommodation at the Marriott. You're going for the ambiance, the history, the craftsmanship of a bygone era, and the charm. The fact that this inn has private baths throughout is a huge plus. We had the 919. I knew from the picture that this room was not going to be spacious, and it's not. However, it is big enough. It's got a comfortable queen size bed. The bed is on risers, and my wife, who is not short, had to hop, literally, into bed. This amused me. The room has a writing desk and chair, a TV and DVD player, a small closet, a modern air conditioning unit, and a wonderful bathroom. There is a view of the river, but it's a small piece of the river glimpsed behind the condo building across the street. Little matter, really. I was more interested in the window glazing and roof outside than the river. Water pressure at seaside inns can be a problem, but not here. The shower and sink ran just fine. The toilet was surprising - it's got a very strong flush. We didn't use the whirlpool bath, oddly enough. The staircase is beautifully polished, and the woodwork throughout the house is gorgeous. The parlor is nicely done with comfortable furniture. I would have liked to read in here, but they play music almost constantly throughout the lower floor, and I find it hard to read with music playing. So I read elsewhere. There's a big, big dictionary on the floor of the parlor that I would have dearly loved to page through, but I was afraid I'd break it, and never got around to asking if I could open it. There are places on the verandah where you can see some maintenance issues, but not to the point of being unsightly or unsafe. In fact, it's a great place to sit outside and read, or watch the traffic go by, or whatever. Loved the verandah. My wife went down for the breakfast, and said it was adequate. Joe wasn't a stickler for the times, so it was 9ish to 10ish, unlike, say, a Hampton Inn where they take the breakfast down promptly at 10. My wife says the produce was fresh and everything - literally everything - was individually wrapped. To me, the food wasn't very inspiring and I chose not to eat it. It's the only part of the experience I would change. Joe was very helpful and gracious. It's obvious that running an inn in a very old house is a lot of work for him. One night we saw him weeding at 10:00. However, everything works, most everything is in good repair, paint looked fresh all around, driveway had no holes, and the inside is clean and beautifully maintained. We went for a quiet getaway where we could relax and read and maybe go to the beach. We got exactly what we wanted. I would stay here again.

I just celebrated my birthday party at the August Seven Inn and I honestly can say that it was the perfect one. The reason for that is that Joe (owner) let me have a BBQ at the front porch for a couple of friends. I've to be honest to say that when my hubbie said that he went by himself (I've never seen the place before) to this Inn and he thought that we should spend a night there I looked at him....and I could not believe. So he took me there to see with my own eyes...WOW!!! I wish I had seen the place before, because definetely I'd have had our wedding there. Me and my friends had a wonderful time and we felt as if we were home. At each room you will experience different feeling and enjoy abnormal tranquility. The decoration is fantastic and the place smells so good. The bed is made for a royal family and our room 1022 had a hot tub...I have to get back there asap. I am already planning our valentines day to be celebrated there and my hubbie wants to have another party there.

We stayed here for two nights on a weekend with a Living Social escapes deal, and it was nice. Rooms: We had to switch rooms because that was what was available that weekend. So we had the opportunity to stay in 2 rooms. The 1205: Spacious king room with a huuuge king-sized bed, fireplace, and whirlpool tub. Bathroom felt spacious enough for 2. Also a small TV with DVD player. The whirlpool tub was awesome!!! Bring candles and bath salts with you... you won't be disappointed. A grandfather clock is right outside this room, so if you hate the sounds they make, consider requesting another room. Also, this room is downstairs right by the common areas, main entrance, and tranquility room, so you might feel a little inhibited to speak above a whisper... The 1014: Smaller queen-size room, but we didn't feel cramped really. Same size whirlpool tub as above room, and the bathroom wasn't shabby either. Bed was not as comfortable as the 1205. Also a TV with DVD player. This room felt more private & secluded since it is upstairs and sort of set apart from the other rooms. Common areas: Tranquility room - a couple deluxe massage chairs with remote controls... you can sit in them for free! Really nice. I just wish the chairs could be turned to face the windows instead of the hallway. Front sitting room - a nice room. Check out the book of marriage advice from couples married 50+ years...a nice book to read together. Front porch- not much of a view from here but sometimes on Saturday nights around 8:45pm/9pm there are fireworks. Dining area - small, cramped, and so quiet that it feels awkward to have a discussion at all since everyone can overhear you. You can always go and sit on the porch outside, too. WiFi: free, but open network without a password. My cell phone couldn't connect well and when it did, it was slow... but with the laptop, the connection was fine on an early Sunday morning for just reading information online. Service: Top notch. Joseph is awesome! He'll accommodate nearly any of your wishes and genuinely wants you to be happy, even if he is just trying to help you find a good restaurant. He is definitely a people-person. I almost felt like a guest in someone's home. Cleanliness: Can't say I noticed anything that wasn't clean! Food (breakfast): Decent, but we had higher expectations. This was our first time at a B&B so we thought the "breakfast" would be something special... we thought there might be cooked-to-order eggs, or fresh waffles, or something. Nope. There was fresh fruit, cereals, milk and juices, coffee, teas, breads, toasters, Eggo waffles and microwaveable pancakes, and little muffins. It was self-serve...as in, you microwave your own pancake and toast your own waffle. It was basically a continental breakfast. We were pretty disappointed, honestly. But for the price we paid for the "escape" we can't really complain. Location: Not bad. I wouldn't say it's walking distance from the beach but it's not far via car, which you'd probably want to take anyway, since you can drive on Daytona's beach...

This bed and breakfast was fabulous! A great location, two blocks from the beach. It is quiet and very relaxing, has a tranquility room which the message chairs really put you in the relax state of mind. The two the run the place is Peter and Joseph and their attention to detail is great. We were surprised when we heard a knock at the door at 9pm, it was dessert! We didn't expect that and seems to be something they do every night for their guests. It was great, definitely recommend to stay here if you are in the area!

My wife and I have been in the hotel for a week. The room we have is the 819. The room is absolutely gorgeous with a very comfortable bed, jacuzzi in bathroom and large closet. The B&B provides food coffee and decent breakfast in the am. It has a beautiful big porch and it is only 2 blocks from the beach and Jackie Robison Ballpark. We come to Daytona Beach often and we will try to stay here every time.

We found this B&B online for Daytona 500 weekend, it was a great rate & perfect location. We were greeted by an extremely polite & friendly woman named Joan who checked us in and gave us a tour around the Inn. It was actually a lot larger than I had expected, we have stayed in a B&B in the past that wasn't even close to being as nice as this one. They also offer easy parking which is a plus. The Inn itself was very clean and decorated very "quaint". They offer breakfast each morning, cold beverages & a great selection of DVDs to watch while relaxing in your room. (Keep an eye on some popcorn as well) We stayed in the 1014 room which was located upstairs to the far right. Our room was very "cozy" and clean. It was perfect for our two night stay. The only complaint I can mention is the disgusting smell of cigarettes!!! They make you read their policy here which mentions a NON smoking Inn and they will charge you for any smoking done in your room... So who is smoking? The smell woke me up each morning and also late night and I could barely stand it. We personally do not smoke and the smell was a very unpleasant surprise. Other than that our stay was perfect for what we needed. Enjoy!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Inn this weekend and had a really wonderful time. The place is spotless, and I say that as someone who is very picky when it comes to cleanliness. I was very impressed. The room was very quiet, comfortable, and cozy; we felt like we were staying in someone's home, rather than in a hotel room. There is some noise from the traffic outside, but not enough to be a problem, and there is also one of those sound machines that makes ocean, rainforest, etc. sounds in case you are a light sleeper, which I thought was a nice touch. We had originally planned to stay in one of the queen rooms, but decided to book a king instead. I'm glad we did, because it was worth it. There was plenty of room and even a walk-in closet. The owner is very friendly and willing to do whatever he can to make you feel comfortable. We had purchased a living social coupon which expired a couple of months before our stay, but they honored the face value of the coupon and even gave us a bit of a discount on the room when we arrived. Overall, our stay was very relaxing and a really wonderful experience. We would definitely stay there again.
